Moving Day UPDATE...

Just in case I haven't talked to you in the last couple of days or you haven't read my blog on my Myspace page, we've moved. We are still in Los Alamos, just in a bigger apartment on the other side of town. Now instead of a 400 sq. ft. studio apartment we are in a 2 bedroom, 1 bath. Luck has been on our side with this move. The boys & I went out & found it, signed the lease & got the keys on Friday. Then we moved in on Saturday (with Danny's help, he had off believe it or not). Last night was our first night in the new place & by 4 am both kids had managed to make their way to our bed (a queen, instead of a full!)!! All in all it hasn't been that bad except for the 400 trips up & down the stairs at the old apartment. Oh yeah did I mention, we are on the bottom floor at the new place, NO STAIRS!!! I've got some pics I'll have to post later, check back for more.

Snowing...

As I sit here looking out the window, watching the snow fall, I remembered some pictures I took a couple of weeks ago. When I took these I thought about how we don't get stuff like this in Texas! Enjoy!

Our neighbor's backyard. Can you see the snowflakes?
Some of them were as big as my thumb!!

Usually we can see some mountains & part of the
canyon beyond those trees.

The ski area is out there somewhere!!!

These icicles really bothered Eric. He was just
itching to break those things off!!

haircuts for everyone!!

That headline might be a bit misleading, only Eric & Danny got haircuts. My argument is Mason is still too young & I like his crazy hair, duck tail & all!! Eric's hair had gotten so shaggy that I made him stand in the bathtub when we cut it so that it would be easier to clean up. It took Danny & I both to get it cut, the boy just would not stand still!! Mason just watched as the hair was flying. Danny TRIED to get me to let him cut off the tail but I just can't do it yet!!

Yes, the duck tail is still there.
Danny does continue to threaten to cut it off though!!

He was getting soooo shaggy!

that's a big 'ol pile of hair!!

Now that's better!

a nice, quiet trip to the library...

How is it our luck that a nice, quiet trip to the library turns into an adventure? Well it started out @ around noon today, the boys & I decided to head off to the library to check it out. We got there, got a library card & made our way downstairs to the children/teen floor. After a 10 second potty dance Eric decided that he needed to visit the restroom (I'm convinced he is trying to visit every restroom in America, he's on a good roll). Anyways, the restroom is where it gets fun, the fire alarm starts going off!! Try telling a 4 year old that we have to leave the library right now because the fire alarm is going off. "But I don't see any smoke! I DON'T WANT TO LEAVE!!" And after a few minutes outside the fire trucks & ambulance showed up. Eric was very interested in the trucks & the firefighters in full garb casually making their way inside (apparently this happens all the time!) for all of about 2 minutes. The rocks next to the sidewalk maintained his interest until it was time to go back in. There was no fire, just a false alarm. Well, our afternoon settled down after that. We got our books & DVDs & went for a ride around town (they both very desperately needed naps). So we drove around for about an hour till it was time for swimming lessons. I love how a car ride can put both of them out cold in about 5 minutes flat!!

Swimming Lessons

How many people do you know that takes their kids swimming in 27 degree weather? Well if you live here in Los Alamos, not only do you take you kids swimming, you sign them up for swimming lessons. I just found out last week that we've got an indoor olympic size pool that is open 7 days a week & offer lessons for kids 6 months & older. Anyways, I signed Eric up for lessons & his first day was today. He will have lessons twice a week for the month of February. Hopefully by the time we come back he'll have turned into quite the little fish. =)

Scenic Views

Pictures & words can hardly describe this place but I can try, right? These are just some of the pics we've taken in and around Los Alamos recently.

Camel Rock, seriously!! It is just north of Santa Fe,
headed towards Los Alamos.

Partly frozen waterfall @ White Rock Overlook.
Parajito Mountain (ski area) & Pueblo Canyon
(one of 5 canyons in Los Alamos)
